The 2030 Strategy for Digital Transformation of Slovakia is a cross-sectional government strategy - a framework that defines the policy priorities of Slovakia in the context of currently ongoing digital transformation of economy and society under the influence of innovative technologies and global megatrends of the digital era.
The 2030 Strategy of Slovakia sets the goal of modernising Slovakian economy with innovative and environmentally-friendly industrial solutions, enabled through a knowledge-based data economy by 2030. This includes actions to improve the efficiency of public administration services, ensuring smart usage of existing infrastructure, as well as enhacing citizens' potential to live active digital lives and reap the benefits of the technology fully.
The topic of digital skills is addressed in Chapter 3.2 of the Strategy, Society and Education. The priorities, outlined in the 2030 Slovak Strategy, follow the pillars of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition, including:
Digital skills for Citizens
- Supporting systemic lifelong learning for all throughout industries and occupations.
- Enhancing the digital skills of citizens to understand the digital technologies of the modern world and use them to reap benefits.
Digital Skills for the Labour Force
- Creating educational programmes to develop skills and competences that match more closely current and future labour market demands, preparing the Slovakian workforce for the challenges of the future.
- Update employees' digital skills to enable them to find meaningful jobs in the era of robotisation and automation.
Digital skills for ICT Specialists
- Supporting education initiatives on advanced digital skills, including specialist competences such as knowledge of the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, big data, and robotics.
- Establishing a more flexible innovation system of the study programmes to make the higher education study more effective, while promoting the cross-cutting and cross-industry programmes, thereby increasing graduates' flexibility in the labour market.
Digital skills in education:
- Supporting the digital transformation of schools and education institutions and providers of trainings, in order to increase overall quality and improve preconditions for employment to support the acquisition of 21st century skills.
- Promoting the use of digital technologies (educational platforms), and digital educational content for more innovative and motivating teaching methods.
- Enhancing the digital competences of pupils, students and participants via courses on the digital economy and strengthen digital inclusion, ensuring equal access to digital education for all.
- Creating better conditions for motivating, educating and preparing teachers in high-demand subjects, such as STEM.
- Improving cooperation between teachers, entrepreneurs and legislators in order to advance education and training in digital skills.
- Develop, in cooperation with the State Educational Institute, normative rules for teaching informatics and informational education at all levels of the educational system.
Stakeholders from governmental sector, industry and academia are involved in implementation of the Strategy.
